The briefing

This course satisfies the 8-hour training requirement for the Kentucky Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapons permit. Participants must be 18-years old and legal able to possess a firearm. Most of this course is in the classroom.


You must arrive with a VALID photo ID and your firearm UNLOADED and in an adequate case. All firearms WILL BE inspected upon arrival.

What to bring

  • 1. An open mind
  • 2. An UNEXPIRED government-issued photo ID
  • 3. Handgun (.22 caliber or larger)
  • 4. 50 rounds of factory ammunition (no reloads)
  • 5. Note taking material
  • 6. Ear protection (electronic is recommended-aids in instruction)
  • 7. Eye protection (Z87 grade is recommended)
  • 8. Dress appropriately for an outdoor range and take weather into consideration
  • 9. Lunch and drink (there will not be enough time to leave to get anything)
